Hatha Yoga

Flow into stillness through mindful, spacious sequencing

Where there is no ideal pose - only today's experience

Like the meeting point of water and earth, where riverbanks contain and direct water's flow, Hatha Yoga offers:

  • Dynamic but unhurried flows

  • Standing and floor-based practice

  • Breath-led transitions

  • Strength and stability balanced with ease

What you can expect from a JingXi Hatha Yoga class

JingXi Hatha Yoga is a 60-minute practice combining breath-led movement with moments of pause and stillness. We begin by arriving, noticing the breath and gently preparing the body before gradually moving into fuller sequences.

The practice moves between standing and floor-based postures, exploring mobility, balance, strength and ease. Movements flow naturally together at an unhurried pace, with different options offered so you can practise in a way that works for you. You may also encounter simple DaoYin-inspired movements, bringing softness, fluidity and awareness into the flow.

As the class progresses, movement gradually gives way to quieter practice. We finish with time to settle, breathe and notice how you feel — allowing the class to flow naturally into stillness.

What you'll need for JingXi Hatha Yoga

A yoga mat, comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, and enough space to stretch your arms and legs comfortably. A cushion or folded blanket can also be useful for additional support.

No previous yoga experience is needed. Come as you are and practise in the way that works for you.

How Hatha Yoga fits into the JingXi Philosophy

A yoga class should be about the experience, how it makes you feel, not how you compare to the next person.

In its own way, Hatha Yoga – like the other three JingXi Yoga paths - points towards the same experience of inhabiting the present moment with kindness and awareness.

I don't teach yoga as a collection of poses. I teach movement as a journey. Every class flows naturally towards stillness, where relaxation, breath and quiet awareness become the real peak of the practice.

Come as you are.

Move with the breath.

Notice what changes — and perhaps what was there all along.

The Practice of Noticing

We all bring the flow of our own lives with us to a class. One day, we may arrive feeling light. On another, we may arrive carrying stress, uncertainty or tiredness.

We may not have had time to notice.

For a little while, we step onto the mat or sit in the chair together. We move, breathe and pause. Not to become someone different, but to become more aware of who we are in this moment.

Sometimes we notice ease or resistance. Sometimes gratitude or frustration appears. Neither is a mistake; both belong.

Yoga doesn't ask us to reject one experience in favour of another. It simply invites us to observe them with honesty and kindness.

When the class ends, life continues. The breath continues. The awareness we've found doesn't stay in the room. It goes with us. It's always there, quietly waiting, whenever we choose to return to it
